Panel upgrades

How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?

Signs you may need a panel upgrade include frequently tripping breakers, flickering lights, an older home with a Zinsco or Federal Pacific panel, adding high-demand appliances like an EV charger or solar system, or a home inspector flagging your panel. We can assess your situation and give you an honest recommendation.

What is a Zinsco panel and why is it a problem?

Zinsco panels were common in homes built before the 1980s and are now considered a safety hazard. The breakers can fail to trip during an overload, creating a serious fire risk. California SB 382 now requires sellers to disclose Zinsco, Federal Pacific and Pushmatic panels at point of sale. If your home has one of these panels, replacement is strongly recommended.
